AMES AMPERES FRC #3243

Accurate Corrosion Control Incorporated - Sponsorship Proposal

Who are we?
My team, FRC Team 3243 The AMES Amperes, is a FIRST robotics team that participates annually in FIRST Robotics Competitions (FRC) around the nation. In FRC competitions high school students from across the world are presented by with a detailed game designed for play by robots and which present numerous challenges to the students who must create these robots. The next six weeks are spent working tirelessly to construct robots that can overcome the games obstacles. The robots weigh up to one hundred and twenty pounds and are equipped with all types of contraptions. Constructing robots of this size and complexity requires the use of every available tool, from drills and saws, to 3D printers and CNC. Competitions take place across the United States and put approximately 50 different teams, selected from over 3,000 worldwide, against each other in front of thousands of spectators.

Our purpose
Participation in FRC provides students with the opportunity to gain direct experience in a number of professional engineering and management fields. Constructing the robot requires enormous effort from the build teams that must design, prototype, assemble, and program the robot. The challenges of the competition and build season provide students with an environment comparable to that of industry engineers. This combined with the input from industry mentors who come from a sponsoring company or have volunteered makes participation in robotics an unbeatable learning experience. The robotics team provides just as much management experience. The budget of the team must be taken into consideration by each student, and those more directly involved with finance organize fundraisers, contact potential sponsors, and apply for grants. These activities put the responsibility in the hands of the student and allows them to learn how to interact with other business professionals. The robotics club provides a strong social environment for kids who are motivated and looking for peers who they can respect and trust. The stress of the robotics season forces students to work together and the excitement of the competitions is always a ton of fun and leads to adventures students will remember for years. The knowledge and relationships established as a part of our robotics team are a valuable investment in the future of students

We also provide our sponsors with advertising exposure by placing your logo on our website, our T-Shirts, our competition banner, and on our robot. This exposes your company in front of thousands of technology invested students, teachers, and industry mentors. Many of these people work for or will work for engineering companies of all kinds, and I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect that many of them might need to worry about corrosion at some point in the future. We could even sort out a deal and agree to distribute ACCI merchandise at the competitions (Robotics students love free stuff). ACCI shirts, pins, magnet sticks, USB drives, and more are all things that the robotics geeks would be all over.
